Robert Joseph Cornell

NISKAYUNA – Robert Joseph Cornell, 76, a 40 year Niskayuna resident, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2007 at St. Clare's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born on April 4, 1930 in Brooklyn and was the son of the late Joseph W. and Esther McKenna Cornell. He served in the US Marine Corps during WWII, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the 69th Regiment "The Fighting 69th" and the American Legion Post 1092. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, crosswords, cards and staying in touch with friends via the internet.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Silvia Cornell; his children, Caren (David) Patzarian of New Scotland, Joseph W. Cornell II of Niskayuna and Diana (Dave) Rossi of Selkirk; his sister, Anne Dietrich of Brooklyn; his grandchildren, Sam and Lindsay Patzarian and Amelia and Oliver Rossi; his "honorary granddaughter", his great-niece, Arianna Wedin and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
