Robert D. June

February 24, 1940 — April 28, 2023

Latham- Robert D. June ., 83 of Latham enter into eternal peace on April 28,2023 surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with a long-term illness.

He was born in Albany, N.Y. and was a Proud Graduate of Albany High School. Robert was the Son of the late Chester and Geraldine June and the loving Brother of the late Gerrianne and Chester June. Robert was the beloved husband of 51 years to Mary June.

In addition, Robert "Pop" June was the dedicated and loving Father to Robert (Deana) June, Shelly June (Michele Heffern), Karen (Dan Clune) Heath, and Michael Heath. He was the cherished Grandfather of Matthew June (Maria) and Jami June (Julia) and Collin Patrick Heath. In addition, he was a Great-Grandfather to Noah, Amelia and Lucy June. Robert is also survived by five nephews, Michael, Greg, Paul, and Patrick Nagle and Rick June.

Pop was a loving Father and Grandfather whose greatest joy in life was spending time with his Family. As a student at Albany High school, he participated in football and baseball and was outstanding at both. He was granted a try-out with the major league affiliate of the New York Giants as a pitcher; he threw a mean forkball, which was almost unhittable. After high school, he served in the United States Marines. He was most proud of being able to serve his country and did so with pride and honor. After his military service, he met and married the love of his life, Mary and started a family. He was a Student Loan Control Officer for New York State Higher Education Services where he retired from in 1992. Outside of work, Pop was an avid bowler and golfer and always enjoyed a day at Saratoga watching the horse races. He dedicated much of his time to coaching local youth sports. He was a coach on many of Bobby's, Shelly's and Karen's teams, including football, basketball, and softball. Pop continued as a coach even after his children were done participating. Pop coached his Grandson's teams as well - Pop and his son Bobby were the "dynamic duo" of coaching and had much success while coaching those teams. Pop had an amazing positive impact on so many lives through coaching. Many of the kids he coached continued to call him and communicate with him long after their playing days were over. Pop will be deeply missed but will live on in all of us, forever.
