GUILDERLAND- Robert L. Slauson, 65, of Guilderland passed away peacefully at his camp on the Sacandaga Reservoir.
Rob was born on Feb. 20, 1949 in Albany. He was the son of Edward and Rosella (Roberts) Slauson of Guilderland.
Rob graduated from Guilderland High School in1967 and shortly thereafter joined the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War until his discharge.
Rob was a self employed welder, owning Frontier Iron in Schenectady for many years. He also worked for Sweat and Sweat Welding in Schenectady for several years.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, ice fishing and camping, and enjoyed his time at his camp on the Sacandaga. Rob also made beautiful wood carvings.
He was very proud of his son and daughter-in-law and grandchildren and cherished the time he was able to spend with them.
He was predeceased by his former wife and mother of his son, Maryanne (Mendel) Slauson.
Survivors besides his parents include his son, Eric L. and his wife, Antonia (Grozdanova) Slauson of So. Plainfield, NJ; two sisters, Corie (Slauson) Multari and her husband, Jeffrey of Guilderland and Lynn (Slauson) Muztafago of Guilderland; two grandchildren, Adrian L. and Sofia E. Slauson of South Plainfield, NJ; aunts and an uncle, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will held on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 3 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 12 to 3 p.m.
