GUILDERLAND - Robert L. Vann "Bob" age 61, of Guilderland, NY passed onto eternal life on Sunday November 20th 2011 after a long and courageous battle from end stage renal disease. Bob was born on March 14, 1950 to Harold Vann and Julia Varga-Vann in Ithaca NY. He graduated from Ithaca High School in 1968. Bob was a teenage radio announcer for CBN and began his working career thereafter, Bob was a self-employed entrepreneur. He created and operated many businesses including; Stereo Shack, Ithaca NY - Stereo Liquidators, Inc Albany NY - Robert L Vann Advertising Albany NY - Surplus Freight Inc Albany NY - QVZ Sales, Schenectady NY - Action Printing Center Schenectady NY. He also was a technical advisor to Audio Visual Sales & Services, Inc Rotterdam NY and his wife's business A-1 REO Services, LLC Schenectady NY. Bob Vann was a first class man; his hobbies included entertaining, cooking, reading, boating, traveling, gambling, music, movies, talk radio and browsing the internet. Bob was the most devoted husband and best friend to Dawn Marie Lupien-Vann, loving father to daughters Kimberly M. Vann-Capalongo and her husband Tom and Nichole M. Vann-Barnett and her husband Loren; and stepfather to sons Davin M. Card and his wife Karen and Daniel J. Card. He was the beloved grandfather to Nico, Cody and Mason Capalongo, Weston, McKenna, and Brianna Barnett, Annalee (Ali) and Wyatt Card. He was survived by his mother Julia Vann who passed away on November 21, 2011 and was predeceased by his father, Harold. He is survived by a sister Joanne Vann of Beaver Falls, NY, an aunt and uncle, Esther and Balint Korik of Ithaca, NY, Godfather Ed Weed of Rome, NY and many cousins. The family would like to thank the staff and friends of the Albany Regional Kidney Center for their compassion and support. Private services for family will be held at a later date.
