ALBANY – Robert J. Mazzaferro, 79, of Albany, passed away on August 16, 2024.
He was born in Albany on November 13, 1944, a son of the late Thomas and Julia (Scocca) Mazzafero.
Bob was educated at Cathedral Elementary School and graduated from Cardinal McCloskey High School where he was an outstanding athlete, lettering in basketball and football.
Bob attended college, majoring in Economics. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree and two Masters Degrees from Russell Sage College in Troy.
He was employed for many years as a Communications Associate with the State of New York Dept. of Higher Education in Albany until his retirement.
Bob had a passion for music. Aside from extensive record collection that would make any music enthusiast green with envy, he had extensively studied classical piano under the tutelage of concert pianist and revered teacher, Stanley Hummell.
He was a gifted but quiet person who enjoyed going to the gym daily. Bob was very religious and believed very deeply in his convictions. He regularly gave to charity and was devoted to the parishes he attended, Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Mater Christi Parish.
Bob was a loving and devoted brother and uncle and he will be missed by his family.
He is survived by his siblings, Richard, Sr., Mary Louise Cushman, Thomas (Sheila) Kenneth (Ellen) and Julie (Nina) Fedorow. He is also survived by several nephews and a niece and several great nephews and nieces.
