Robert C. Morrison, 90, of Colonie, NY and Punta Gorda, FL, passed away on Tuesday, July 24. 2018 at St Peter's Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born on March 28, 1928 in Cambridge, NY, Robert was the son of the late William and Eugenia (Smith) Morrison. He was the second generation to be born on a 248-acre dairy farm in Jackson, Washington County.
Graduating from Cambridge Central HS in 1951, Bob enlisted in the Marine Corps, earning many awards and ribbons during his service in the Korean War.
A professional truck driver most of his life, Bob retired from the State of New York, Office of General Services after 12 years of service in 1992.
Bob was a member of the Watervliet Elks Club Local Post #1500. He liked wintering in Punta Gorda, FL, for the last 25 years, enjoying the company of friends. He loved being outdoors and spending time with friends and family.
In addition to being the devoted husband of Margaret (Moran) Morrison, Bob is survived by his children: Deborah (Jan) Vriesen, of Milaca, MN, James Morrison, of Broadalbin, NY, and Linda (Mardy) Beeson, of Atlanta, GA; and two grandsons: Sean Vriesen and Benjamin Vriesen of British Columbia, Canada.
Bob is also survived by a sister Mary (Larry) Waananen of Pittsfield, MA and two brothers-in-law; Tom J. Moran and David J Moran, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by sisters; Ruth (Charles) Severino and Rosalind (Guy) Stafford, and brother Richard (Bertha) Morrison.
Relatives and friends attend his wake between 3-5PM Sunday afternoon July 29, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:00 am on Monday, July 30, at the Church of St. Clare, 1947 Central Avenue, Colonie. Please assemble at the church. Interment with military honors will follow in Gerald B. H. Solomon - Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
