VOORHEESVILLE, NY – Robert Oddy, Jr., 33, of Voorheesville, left this earth on Saturday, August 1, 2009, after a tragic motorcycle accident. He was a 1994 graduate of Voorheesville High School and was currently working as a corrections officer for over 10 years at the Albany County Correctional Facility. Bobby played semi-pro football for the Glove City Colonials and the Amsterdam Zephyrs. He also participated in Capital District Flag Football. Bobby was upbeat, outgoing and full of life. He was an adventure seeker and was up for anything. He loved riding his dirt bike, his Harley and enjoyed sports, especially football. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his good stories and his ability to make everyone laugh. Bobby was the beloved husband of Marcia Oddy and the devoted father of Alandra and Janaye. He also leaves behind his loving parents, Robert Oddy, Sr. and Georgianna Ertel-Oddy of Voorheesville. Bobby is also survived by his sister and best friend, Jodi. He is the grandson of Theresa Ertel of Slingerlands and the late George Ertel and Kenneth and Evelyn Oddy. Bobby is the son-in-law of Michelle and Randy King and Mark Stegel. In addition, he is survived by a large family of aunts, uncles, cousins and a circle of many close friends that he shared with this sister.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland.
