COLONIE- Robert E. Reside, 76, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 1, 2017.
Robert was born on October 14, 1940 son of the late Edward and Vera (Heyn) Reside in Troy, NY.
He attended St. Augustine's in Troy, and later graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy. At age 17 he joined the U.S. Army National Guard and served in the 205th Tank Battalion.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a hard worker and was well respected within his professional community. He began his advertising career at the Troy Record as a Classified and Display Representative from 1959-1970. He then worked for over 31 years at the Times Union retiring as an Advertising Coordinator from 1970-2001. After his retirement, he worked for 9 years at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. He also enjoyed his time at his camp on Schroon River especially spending time with his family on his pontoon boat.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Karen (Blessing) Reside; daughters, Veronica (Edward) Connell, Theresa (David) Meservey, Kimberly (Peter) McAllister, Linda (Brian) Jerard, Victoria Reside; grandchildren, Drew Connell, Taylor Meservey, Samantha Meservey, Ian Duncan, Noel Duncan, Julia Jerard and Austin Jerard; brother, Edward (Elaine) Reside; step-mother, Bess Reside and Karen's brothers and sisters and their spouses and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his aunt, Sister Mary Francina, RSM (Emily Heyn); nephews, Shaun Reside and Scott Reside; his best friend, Paul Favata; dear friends, Sister Mary Cleta Strainy and Lucille Colonari.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 9:00am at St. Clare's Church, 1947 Central Ave. Albany, NY 12205. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205. Interment will follow Mass at Memory Garden's Cemetery.
