Robert P. Shafer

Selkirk- Robert "Bob" P. Shafer, 72, passed away surrounded by his loving family on July 26, 2018 in Albany, NY. Born on July 19, 1946 in Albany, NY he was the son of the late Charles and Hazel (Hartman) Shafer. Bob was the proud owner and operator of Bob's Produce which was opened by his father in 1952 under the name Tri-Village Fruit Market. Bob put his heart and soul into running his market, which he took over when his father passed away. The store closed in 1998. Starting in 1977 when his daughter Shannon was born, Bob began collecting all things Corvette. Over the years, his house became a Corvette museum. Bob had a contagious smile that could light up a room, he loved to laugh and to make people laugh. He was always playing jokes on his family and friends. Bob was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Bob is survived by his loving daughters: Shannon (Keith Bishop) Catucci, Sherri (Eric Groat) Shafer; his loving sons: Robert "Robby"(Kristel) Shafer, Jr. and Scott (Roseanne) Shafer; his grandchildren: Bryanna, Aryanna, Antonella, Teresa, Althea, Austin, Colton, Gabrielle, Dayna and David; his great-grandson, Trey; his former wife, Sue Flansburg; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his stepson, Larry Linstead; his sister, Virginia Abate and his brother, Charles Shafer.
In keeping with Bob's wishes, there will be no services.
