Robert Stepien

COLONIE – Robert B. Stepien, (Uncle Bob) 75, of Colonie, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2005 at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of the late Blase and Statia Matuszek Stepien. Bob was a Colonie resident for most of his life. Upon his retirement from the U.S. Postal Service, Bob enjoyed spending all of his time with his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Fondly known to everyone as "Uncle Bob", he enjoyed helping family, friends and any one who needed anything. He is the beloved brother of Mother Dolores Stepien, C.R., Superior General of the Sisters of the Resurrection of Rome, Italy, Janet Bauer of Johnsburgh, NY and Daniel Stepien and his wife, Carol of Albany. He is the cherished godfather of Bonnie Jean Bauer of Colonie and Daniel M. Stepien of Saratoga. He is the devoted uncle of Marie Travis, Lisa Ann Kipp, Karen Troglin, Cheryl Durant, Cindy Palmer, Karen DeMizio and Michael Stepien. Bob was predeceased by his beloved aunt and friend, Barbara Matuszek. Also surviving is his cousin, Carol West and her family, as well as several great- nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 8:45 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to Our Lady of Mercy Church at 9:30 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Resurrection Retirement Fund, 35 Boltwood Ave., Castleton, NY 12033 in memory of Robert B. Stepien.
