TROY – Robert W. Cure died on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Troy on April 12, 1938, he was the son of the late Dorothy Cure. Bob was employed for over twenty years by the Albany Veterinarian Hospital and then went to work for the Town of Guilderland as an animal control officer, retiring in 1995 after fourteen years. Bob loved all animals, including his pet turtle Pebbles and German Shepherds. He rehabilitated animals and released them back into the wild. Bob enjoyed going to the Mechanicville Elks to visit, sell bingo cards and help out whenever he could. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1403 and the Pittstown Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Bob leaves his wife, Kathleen (Goebel) Cure to cherish his memory and his children, Laura Cure, Joanne (David) Peat, and Robert Cure Jr. He is the stepfather of Rick Isdell, and Michele (Tony) Bowick. Bob is the brother of Vern (Carol) Cure and Linda Woods. He is the grandfather of Tatianna Bowick, Hans Isdell and Nora Peat. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-law and his good friends, Christine Isdell and Phyllis Cure. In addition to his mother, Bob was predeceased by his brother, Joe Mudhall. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rensselaer County Hospice, Dr. Weissman at NYOH, and especially Patricia Stout.
Funeral services will be Friday at 9:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mechanicville-Stillwater Elks Lodge #1403, 302 Park Ave., PO Box 649, Mechanicville, NY 12118 in memory of Robert W. Cure.
