LATHAM – Robert W. Gibb, Jr. 74, passed away on Friday March 11, 2011 at his home surrounded by his devoted wife of 52 years and his grateful children.
Bob was born and raised in Cambridge Massachusetts. He proudly served in the US Army along with serving time in the Korean War. He worked his most passionate days as a horse trainer across the New England area until he brought his family to Green Mountain Race Track in Pownal, Vermont where they spent 37 wonderful years. Bob retired from Steiner Films. He enjoyed fishing, was always passionate about horses and never missed any of his children's youth activities.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of more than 52 years, Constance Gibb; their three children, Robert W. Gibb III and wife Katie, John Gibb and wife Laura, daughter Lisa Griffin and husband Scott. Bob loved and adored his 7 grandchildren; in succession, Grace Flint, Michael Flint, Robert C. Gibb, Haley Flint, Justin and Kaylee Gibb and John Flint with additional grandchildren being Sheri, Chelsea, Ryan and Jessica Griffin. Bob is survived by sisters, Donna D'Amato and husband Vincent, Nancy Piantedosi and her husband Johnny of Massachusetts along with Karen Lord and her husband Rick of Ocala, Fla. Bob also has a cherished sister-in-law, Priscilla Tully of Everett, Mass. Also survived by his brother-in-law, James Donovan and wife Janet of Norwell, Mass. Several nieces and nephews are also held dear to his heart. In addition to his parents Bob was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Gibb.
The funeral service will be Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 2 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
