Robert W. Slocum, 83, of East Berne, NY passed away peacefully on July 19, 2015 at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family and caring staff.
Robert was born May 13, 1932, in Schenectady, NY, the son of the late Winston and Antoinette (Monlea) Slocum.
Robert graduated from Albany High School, then continued his education with
Siena College.
He proudly served with the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He was President of the Albany Jaycees an entrepreneur and publisher.
Robert loved the Yankees and traveling with his family.
Robert was a giving and loving person who will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his beloved son, Steven B. Slocum.
Robert is survived by his wife of over 64 years, Rita A.Slocum; his children; David (JoAnn) Slocum, Lynda (Jim) Bobar, Jeffrey (Kitty) Slocum and Lauralee (Michael) Altieri. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and his brothers Michael and Gilbert Slocum along with several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the .St. Peter's Hospital Foundation, 319 South Manning Blvd, Suite 114 Albany, NY 12208 care of St. Peters Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Robert's memory.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Funeral services and burial will be private.
