Robert Warnken

Rensselaer- Robert J. Warnken, 70, of Rensselaer passed away on Monday, January 23, 2006, at home after a short courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born in Troy, NY he was the son of the late Helen and Russell Scaccia. Bob was an agent and sales manager for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. for 23 years. He then went on to become Vice President of Alvest Financial Services, a division of Albank, for 12 years before retiring in 1997. Bob was an avid Yankee and Giants fan. He enjoyed fishing, sporting events on television, and especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Robert is the beloved husband of 50 years to Shirley A. Warnken of Rensselaer, the devoted father of Lynn Johnson of Clifton Park, Todd Warnken of Albany, and Lori (Tom) Mackiewicz of Port St. Lucie, FL. He is the loving grandfather of Lauren and Jenna Johnson, and lifelong cherished friend of Edward and Carol Lavender of Loudonville.
The family wishes to thank the Community Hospice of Rensselaer for their kindness and compassionate service during this time of need.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 3 Winners Circle – Suite 300, Albany, NY 12205 or to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Robert J. Warnken.
