ALBANY – Robert C. Weaver, 85, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2005 at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born on January 26, 1920 and was the son of the late Robert C. and Lillian D. Reinick Weaver.
Bob served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1945 and 1947 to 1951 serving in the Armed Guard Crew, attained the rank of Gunner's Mate 2nd Class. He continued to be active in the local Armed Guard organization.
Bob facilitated the establishment of the United States Naval Armed Guard Custom License Plate which was approved and passed in legislation in June of this year.
Bob worked for the Department of Defense in the Voorheesville and Schenectady depots for 33 years before retiring in 1973 as yard master.
Known as the Mayor of Partridge Street, Bob loved telling stories, gardening, animals, and visiting the ocean. He could fix anything. He lived his entire life in his family home on Partridge Street – a three generation home. He was very proud of his heritage and family.
Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ethel M. Weaver; his children, Joyce R. (George) Bouchard, David R. (Linda) Weaver, and Daniel J. (Patricia) Weaver; his grandchildren, Cindy (Jeffrey) Coons, Chris and Kelly Weaver; his brother, Jim (Rose) Weaver, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Winifred Barrett and Jane Lanci.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland Center. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
