Robert West

Albany - Robert West, a dear husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at his home in Niskayuna with his wife at his side. Robert was born on January 1, 1930 to the late Ward and Bertha Bell West.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary A. Penick West. He is also the proud father of R. Christopher West (Lynn) and two adored grandchildren Christopher and Taylor West, one aunt Katherine Robinson of Albany, step brother Allen E. Robinson (Linda) of Cecil, Alabama. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Robert was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.

Robert was a Korean War Veteran. After an Honorable Discharge from the US Army he returned to his previous employment with the New York Central Railroad. He later became a member for over 50 years with the Construction and General Laborers Local Union #190, retiring in1990. Robert loved to work on his vehicles, play checkers, cards, and enjoyed barbecues with family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road Colonie, New York on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 3 Morton Avenue Albany, New York, Family will receive callers at 10:30 a.m. Funeral service immediately to follow.
