After reaching the age of 95 years old, and after months of failing health, he died peacefully within his home in Glens Falls, N.Y. which he resided with his son Richard and with his Beloved family by his side. A very special thank you to Tarrene, Roy's granddaughter for taking the lead in his medical care, she spent multiple hours taking care of her grandfather, making sure he had everything he needed and the best medical care he could get.
Roy was born on November 28, 1925 in Albany, N.Y. to Josie Crounse and Roy E. Crounse. As a very young man he learned to work hard and to take on whatever job was available to support himself and his family. He worked mainly in carpentry. After serving in the Army during WWII and walking across Germany, surviving harrowing experiences, He returned home met the love of his life Evelyn June Harppinger, got married and took over his Father-in-Law's business, Ribley and Harppinger Inc., in Schenectady N.Y. He ran the business until his retirement in 1984, the business built and repaired Fire Truck bodies and installed wheelchair lifts in busses. He returned to his love of building furniture and continued this hobby right up to his illness.
He loved to be with family and was always up for a gathering of friends at his Camp in Schroon Lake, N.Y.
He was a good friend to all, a man who would give his shirt for a friend. He was a good father who always took care of his children, a loving grandfather and "great-grandfather". He was a strong, proud and good man. He is loved and will be missed by many!
