Colonie- Roberta J. Piurek, 76, passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2017 in the loving arms of her family after her long, courageous battle with breast cancer. Born in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Sadie (Rasalas) Silka.
Roberta retired as an administrative assistant from Janitronics after 25 years. In her retirement, Roberta enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 states and spending winters in South Florida with her husband, daughter and family. She was an avid Red Sox fan attending games when she could as well as many Spring Trainings. Roberta's (Gammy) life revolved around her family and grandchildren, especially. Her family will cherish the time spent caring for her the last few weeks. Roberta will be remembered for her strength and courage to the very end.
She met the love of her life, William P. Piurek, at 5 years old after serving as flower girl and ring bearer in a wedding together. They were married for 56 years. She is also survived by her children, Kathleen M. Baker and Cynthia M. (Timothy) Card; grandchildren, Alyssa M. Baker, Lauren E. Baker, Dylan M. Card, and Morgan N. Card; sister-in-law, Diane L. Trzaskos; brother-in-law, David J. Trzaskos; niece and Goddaughter, Sheri A. (Todd) Roberts; nephew, Scott M. (Jessica) Trzaskos; and great-niece, Brighley M. Trzaskos; uncle, Michael Wancewicz as well as several cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, David J. Silka, uncle, Anthony Belpulsi and her aunts, Bernice Belpulsi and Jeanne Wancewiz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday July 29, 2017 at 10:00 am at Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Dr., Loudonville, NY 12211. Inurnment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie.

Thank you to John and Nancy Baker for their continuous support and generosity. The family wishes to thank all the friends and family for the outpouring of prayers, cards, phone calls (well wishes) and food during the difficult time while Roberta was hospitalized.
