SLINGERLANDS-- Robin Claire Hynes passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Robin (Missy) Heidt on January 5, 1963. Robin was the loving daughter of Michael and Norma Heidt and she had four doting brothers: Michael, Warren, Bobby and Ken.
Robin graduated from Jefferson Central School in 1981, and she earned a Bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University, or TCU, in 1985.
Robin was a tremendous athlete throughout her life. At age 12, she played in the Little League Softball World Series. She was a scratch golfer and an accomplished skier and she played shortshop with a cannon for an arm. As proof of her excellence in athletics, Robin was recently inducted into the Section IV Sports Hall of Fame.
However, Robin was not only good at sports. She was proficient in whatever endeavor she attempted. Her friends complimented her on wonderfully prepared meals. She was extremely creative with arts/crafts projects and she was an expert with Microsoft products like Excel and Powerpoint. We also can't forget that she played multiple instruments, including the accordion, drums, guitar and piano.
Robin worked at Verizon Wireless for over 20 years in various roles. Her biggest contributions came in the area of process improvements. She wrote many training documents to implement quality improvements in different facets of the business. After leaving Verizon Wireless, Robin spent eight years working for HilcoGlobal as the Office Manager. And she enjoyed working for Chris and considered her coworkers close friends.
Robin is survived by her BFF and husband for over 35 years, Jerry Hynes. The couple have a son, Tyler, who was the apple of her eye. He was the one person who could make her smile or relax during this difficult journey.
In addition, Robin is survived by brother Warren and wife Betty Heidt, sister-in-law Kay Heidt and sister-in-law Susan Heidt. Also, mother-in-law Mary Hynes, brothers-in-law Tim Hynes and wife Teresa, Michael Hynes and wife Kelli, and Chris Hynes and wife Tanjia. Robin also adored her nieces and nephews: Warren, Andy, Merry and Adam on the Heidt side and Meghan, Emma, Mackenzie and Addy on the Hynes side. There are also countless loving cousins and dear friends, too many to name, but Robin would want you to know she loved you every day.
Robin had a zest for life that attracted people to her. Her spirit will live on in all the people she touched throughout her life. She lived a happy life full of unselfish gestures and caring thoughts. But Robin did have one parting thought: Apparantly laughter wasn't the best medicine. I wish laughter could've saved her because it surely would have.
