ALBANY-Rodney R. "Hot Rod" Lemon, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at his home in Albany with his loving wife Kathy by his side. Rodney was predeceased by his parents Adrian B. and Eileen B. Lemon of Saugerties NY. In addition to his wife Kathy, Rodney is survived by his brother Adrian B. Lemon Jr. (Patti); his sister Jan Marie Weatherford (David); and his sister Sherilyn Pifferi (Paul). Rodney will also be missed by his nieces and nephews Stephen and Emily Pifferi; Daniel and Megan Weatherford; and Nathan and Jeffrey Lemon.
When Rodney married Kathy, the light of his life, on his beloved Hudson River on June 3, 2006, Rodney embraced and was embraced by Kathy's family. Rodney is also survived by his mother in law Mildred Furdon; sisters in law and brothers in law Mary Pat Sullivan (Bill), Barbara Childs (Garth), Peg Gifford (Todd), Grace Reinhardt (Don), Bill Furdon Jr. (Sue), John Furdon (Tammie); three step daughters, Janet Simmons (Jim), Jennifer Wescott (Bob), Jackie Shaefer, and grandchildren Olivia, Julianna, Zachary, Samantha who Rodney adored with many nieces and nephews.
Rodney was a 1977 graduate of Marist College. He retired in September 2010 from the state of New York department of OGS. Rodney and Kathy shared many special interests, including NASCAR, boating and fishing at their camp on the Hudson River in Schuylerville. They also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Rodney and Kathy would like to thank everyone who contributed their time and money to build the ramp at their home and who celebrated the important moments of their lives. A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses at Albany Medical Center who cared for Rod in his time of need. Special thanks to the Eddy Visiting Nurse Association including Elizabeth, Jill, and Beth.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, June 29, 2012 at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville.
Interment will be at Blue Mountain cemetery in Saugerties immediately following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123-1718 in memory of Rodney.
