LOUDONVILLE- Roger G. Van Amburgh, 67, at rest, June 23rd, 2016. Born and raised here in Albany, Roger attended many city public schools; Phillip Livingston Jr. High, then Albany High School. Roger as a boy enjoyed going to the Albany Boys Club on Livingston Ave. Then, spent the summers at Camp Thatcher in the Heidelberg Mountains. And, he enjoyed fishing and swimming in Thompson's Lake. Roger was a Numismatist for about 20 years collecting over five hundred pounds of coins in his collection. He was a Classic Car Buff, owning and restoring a Pontiac Star Chief, and a Chevy El-Camino. He enjoyed going to car shows and meeting others that enjoyed his passion for older cars. Roger worked for, and eventually ran the Ace Ambulance Service from 1965 to 1972. He then joined the Albany Fire Dept. from 1972-1978. He then switched jobs to the Albany Police Dept. in the Communications Division until 1985. Roger was in the first class of the MET (Medical Emergency Technicians) in June of 1967, then became as known today as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's) in 1970, until 2002. During his time with both fire and Police Dept., Roger worked part time for the Capital District Ambulance Service for over 25 years. Roger was always working and an entrepreneur in many Businesses. Roger loved his last name and nick name "Van". His phone numbers always included the last four numbers as eight, two, six, seven ("Vans"). Roger owned and operated Vans Boat Livery at Six Mile Water Works on Fuller Road from 1985 to 1993 doubling in the off seasons at the Capital District Ambulance Service. Roger owned and operated Vans Auto Delivery from 1986 to 1992. Roger then started and ran Care-A-Vans Ambulance service from 1994 to 2001. Roger then joined the Armed Guard Force for the Homeland Security with the Federal Police and the FBI for G4's Security Corp. on December 12, 2001 through present. Rogers's latest venture was Vans Van A Ground Transport & Delivery service in 2010 though present.
Roger was the son of the late John F. Sr., who passed in 1957 and Mary E Ariel Van Amburgh who passed in 1979. He is survived by his siblings; Ronald Lindell, Mary Palma, Gail Meluch, John Van Amburgh Jr., Marlene Behnke, and Dennis Van Amburgh.

Special thank you to his cousin, Carol Van Amburgh who believed in him and made him believe in himself. Roger would like us to apologize for him, on not being able to win a large Jackpot Prize in the lottery. His big dream was to be able to help so many of his relatives, friends, and coworkers that needed help. If you dream it, believe it, and if you believe it you will achieve it. You could hear him say so many times.
