COLONIE – Ronald A. Reichel, 76, died peacefully on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Ronald was born on January 6, 1930 in Albany and was the son of the late Alfred C. and Elizabeth A. (Deitze) Reichel. He served in the US Navy Reserves from 1951 to 1959.
Ronald worked as a machinist for General Electric in Schenectady for 25 years, before retiring in 1990. Prior to that he was a watchmaker with his father. He enjoyed bowling, playing softball, hunting, NASCAR and was a great baseball player and his favorite baseball team – the Mets. He was also a manager with the National Little League at Westlyn Hills, Albany.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia (Weis) Reichel; his loving children, Ronald G. Reichel of Clifton Park, Thomas E. (Vicki) Reichel of Strasburg, CO, Madelyn E. Krug of Latham and Richard A. (Lucie) Reichel of Colonie; his cherished grandchildren, Tammy, Tina, Tim, Chris, Sarah, David, Tanya and Deven and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Irene H. Reichel, Robert W. (Veronica) Reichel and Carol A. Reichel all of Colonie and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Interment will follow at Memory's Garden in Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 85 Watervliet Ave., Albany, NY 12206 in memory of Ronald A. Reichel.
