GUILDERLAND – Ronald H. Bender, Sr., 73, of Guilderland, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2006 after a long illness. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Henry and Irene Bender. Mr. Bender was a Capital District resident for all of his life. He served his country during the Korean War as a U.S. Navy Corpsman assigned to the U.S. Marine Corp. Ron worked for New York State with over 35 years of service, retiring from the Office of General Services in 1991. Ron was a loyal New York Giants football fan. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Western Turnpike Golf Course. He was also a member of the Elks. Ron is the beloved husband of 48 years to Jane Ferguson Bender. He is the devoted father of Karen Bennett and her husband, Edward, Ronald H. Bender, Jr. and his wife, Jeanne, Terence J. Bender and his wife, Marybeth and Eileen Cardone and her husband, Paul. He is the brother of Richard Bender and his wife, Joyce. Ron is the cherished grandfather of Andrew, Jennifer and Kathryn Pritchard, Joseph, Megan and Matthew Bender, Jessica and Terence Bender, Jr. and Nicholas and Charlotte Cardone.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 12:00 o'clock at St. Madeleine Sophie Church. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of Ronald H.
