BRUNSWICK, NY – Ronald J. Parker, Sr., passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2008, after a long illness. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Elmer and Helen Parker. He was a graduate of Albany High School. Ron was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving his country during the Viet Nam War aboard the U.S.S. Franklin Roosevelt. Mr. Parker was a custodian for the North Colonie Central School District for 30 years. He is the beloved father of Wendi Parker, Christine Parker, Ronald J. Parker, Jr. and the late Todd Parker; his hunskie Wendy Somers and her children, Stephen (Miho) Lyman, and Kristin Lyman and Wendy's extended family. He is the brother of Bev (Leo) Sovoie, Pat (George) LaBarge, Rose (Billy) Hallett, Raymond (Sue) Parker, Gary (Rose) Parker, Penny (Jim) VanVoorst, and Kevin Parker. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his grandson, James Grimes, III.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
