ALBANY-Ronald J. Kelly, 84, of New York City, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2017 surrounded by his loving family and compassionate caregivers at Teresian House in Guilderland, NY.
He was a loving husband, companion, father, grandfather and friend. He will be remembered for his kindness and compassion toward others and his wonderful sense of humor.
Ron was a devoted educator. He worked as an English teacher and served as Chairman of the English Dept. for over 30 years. He was an avid reader and did the NY Times crossword puzzle (in pen). He loved traveling, spending time with his family and was always up for a good meal. He will be very dearly missed.
Ron is survived by his loving companion, Phyllis Elsky; devoted children, Maribeth Graf (Rick), Pat Amering (Eric) and Brian Kelly (Donna); grandchildren, Lauren Hamilton, Daniel Amering, Sean Kelly, Matthew Blair and Kevin Blair; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Landon and bonus grandchildren, Daniel Gottehrer-Graf, Sheehan Gottehrer-Graf, Conor Malarkey and Jenna Malarkey. He is also survived by Phyllis' daughters and their families whom he loved dearly, Jane Rosovsky (Arik Azoulay), Lisa Binder (Joe Rutkowski) and their children, Benjamin Rutkowski, Daniel Rutkowski, Erez Rosovsky and Tali Bahat Karas, as well as his lifelong friend, Jeannemarie Sullivan.
Ronald was predeceased by Patricia, his wife of nearly 37 years and mother of his children; brother, Richard; brother-in-law, Brian O'Neill and his son-in-law, Sal Blair.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 10am at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3510 Carman Rd, Schenectady, NY 12303. Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205. Interment will be held at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Teresian House for the loving care provided to their family.
