Schenectady, NY – Ronald P. Chlopecki, 72, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2009 at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Chester and Sadie Chlopecki. Mr. Chlopecki resided in Schenectady for all of his life. Ron was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a Navy reservist. He worked construction for Union Local #157 from where he retired in 1995. Ron was an avid N.Y. Giants and N.Y. Yankees fan. He also enjoyed going to Racino, fishing and trips to the ocean. He especially loved spending time with this loving family. Ron is the beloved husband of 52 years to Claudia Chlopecki. He is the devoted father of Diane Collett and Tricia (Chris) Glenn. He is the cherished grandfather of Amanda (Dan) N. Collett-Cook. He is the brother of Elaine (Steve) Croce. Also surviving are his nephews, Ron (Michelle) Croce and Gary (Lisa) Croce and their sons, Vinny and Dom. Many cousins also survive.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to St. Adalbert Church Restoration Fund, 550 Lansing St., Schenectady, NY 12303 in memory of Ronald P. Chlopecki.
