SCHENECTADY – Ronald R. Doedema, 70, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Ronald was born on June 6, 1936 in Albany and was the son of the late Walter and Wanda Doedema. He was employed as a welder for 31 years at General Electric Co., retiring in 1997.
Ronald was a US Navy veteran, serving on the aircraft carrier USS Randolph and served locally for several years in the NYS National Guard tank unit. He was also a 30 year member of the Rotterdam Elks Club.
Ronald is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 50 years, Patricia (Bonacker) Doedema, his loving children, Deborah (Bruce) Manti of Schenectady, Lori (Gary) Drapala of Schenectady, Christine (Joseph) Raimo of Albany and Rhonda (Tait) Jackson of Schenectady; his cherished grandchildren, Keith and Kati Callahan, Jason Manti, Thomas, Tiffani, Trisha and Travis Jansen, Collin and Christian Raimo, Andrew Doedema, Amanda Jackson, and Marissa and Cody Dashnaw; his great-grandchildren, Cameron Callahan and Natalie Warrick; his brothers, Walter and Daniel Doedema; his mother-in-law, Irene Bonacker; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Louis and Joan Liuzzi and Joseph and Jo-Ann Bonacker; and several nieces, nephews and many special friends. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Joseph C. Bonacker.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 5 to 7 p.m.
