Ronald C. “Pito” Richards Jr., 84, passed away on April 6, 2025.
Ron was born in Burlington, VT, on June 4, 1940, the son of the late Helen and Ronald Richards.
He was raised in Albany and graduated from Philip Schuyler High School in 1958. He lived fully, becoming a paratrooper at 18 (yes, the first plane he ever went on, he jumped out of!), filling his life with purpose, joy, and deep connections. Ron worked in the airline industry for many years, including at Eastern and Northwest Airlines. He was also employed at Lechmere Appliance Center and the Colonie Central School District as a custodian. Pito was a lifetime fan of the LA Dodgers and the Cleveland Browns, and was often found watching ice skating.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth and his brother, Ricky Richards.
Ron leaves behind his beloved daughters, Stashia Van Deusen (Doug) and Johnna Martin; granddaughter, Izabella Martin, whom he raised as his own; his loving siblings, Marjorie of Albany, Patricia Heeran (Michael), Sherrie McCullough, Robert, Raymond (Betty-Ann), Russell, and Lynn Salisbury (Rick). In addition, he leaves behind three generations of many adoring nieces and nephews.
The family asks that you hug your family members and keep them close when you get a chance, as family and friendship were a cornerstone in Ron’s life.
