Ronald D. Smith

February 13, 1947 — April 27, 2023

"I was born, I lived, I died."

Rotterdam- Ronald D. Smith, "Pop's" spirit was released from its worn and battered shell, surrounded by loved ones, the evening of April 27, 2023.
Pops was a modest man and didn't really give a damn for material things. He was a character larger than life. He was wildly inappropriate and had a knack for telling it like it is. Even if it isn't what you wanted to hear. Pops was genuine to a fault and loved his family and friends with all he had. He could always be counted on.

Pops was an Army Airborne Ranger Veteran from the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Serving from 67-69. In his civilian life Pops was a jack of all trades, master of none, spending most of his years driving truck. He was the hardest working man I've ever had the honor of knowing let alone call Pops. He will leave behind a legacy of hard work, immense love, and honesty.
Following Pop's wishes, cremation will take place at the family's convenience. Everyone that remembers him is encouraged to celebrate and honor him in their own way as a formal service will not be held. All complaints can be sent to The Church of Ron.

Pops, we know how much getting your own way means to you but, we couldn't do it this time. You were an amazing man and you needed to be recognized. We already miss you more than words could ever say, and we can't even begin to imagine our lives without you. We love you so very, very much. The only solace to be had is the hope that you are finally at peace and resting comfortably. You will never be forgotten, and you will always be cherished. Also, we will not be throwing your ashes in the garbage like you requested. Sorry.

In lieu of flowers or donations, do an unexpected, unsolicited act of kindness for some poor soul in Pop's name. As you never know what the next person is going through.
