Rosa Della Rocca

COLONIE- Rosa Conte Della Rocca, passed away suddenly at her home on the morning of Saturday April 30, 2005 at the age of 82. She was born in Caiazzo, Italy on August 14, 1922. Rosa came to Colonie in 1952, shortly after her marriage to Antonio Della Rocca. She was a homemaker and cherished mother. Rosa and her husband operated a farm on their land until he fell ill in the 1960's. Rosa, the mother of five, grandmother of 11, passed down many treasured traditions and recipes from Italy. Always surrounded by her loving family, Rosa filled her home with food, warmth and love. Rosa now joins her beloved husband Antonio Della Rocca who predeceased her in 1968.
Rosa was the loving mother of Rita (David) Zoller of Coxsackie, Lorraine (Robert) Nieman of Colonie, Thomas (Lynne) Della Rocca of Colonie, Anna (David) Crawmer of Wynantskill, and Lisa Jackson of Colonie. She is the cherished grandmother of Danielle (Jeremy), Jennifer, Angela, Katherine, Amanda, Courtney, Kristen, Sarah, Lauren, Christian, and Madison. She is the sister of Alberico "Ralph" Conte and his wife Anna, Ida "Laura" Falcone, Peter Conte and the late Luigi and Alfonso Conte. She is the aunt of Tommasino (Tammy) Conte and Salvatore Conte and great aunt of Alberico Conte. She is the cherished great grandmother of Anthony. Several nieces and nephews also survive in Italy and Venezuela.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 10:00 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to St. Francis de Sales Church, Exchange Street at 11:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
