Rosalie C. Garrity

September 28, 1925 — April 26, 2018

Rosalie C. Garrity, 92, of Niskayuna, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018. Born on September 28, 1925 in Schenectady, New York, Rosalie was the daughter of the late Earl and Rosalie (Fagnan) Chandler.

Rosalie was known for her feisty spirit, and there was never a dull moment when you were with her. She took great pleasure in making gourmet meals for the family, especially her famous soups, pot roast, and apple pie. She loved taking long car rides in the countryside, stopping to enjoy a meal, and bringing home a bushel of produce from her favorite farm in Schoharie. She loved nature and enjoyed visiting Coastal Maine, where she spent time bird-watching and relaxing by the ocean. Her pet doves were a great source of delight and companionship.

She enjoyed gardening and painting and was a skilled seamstress. Rosalie loved listening to live music, especially jazz. She was an avid reader and life-long learner. In her younger days, she was a volunteer at the Schenectady Museum and Girl Scout troop leader at Sunnyview Hospital. Rosalie was a devoted caregiver and will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

Rosalie is survived by her children, Stephanie Kleindienst and John Garrity, grandchildren Jennifer Kleindienst (Tyler Chamberlin) and John Mario (Elizabeth) Ezzo, and sisters-in-law Carol Chandler and Sandra Wade. Rosalie is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Rosalie is predeceased by her husband Jack Garrity; brothers Earl (Kathy), Robert (Shirley), Richard, and John Francis; her daughter Sharyn Ezzo; her son-in-law John Ezzo; and her granddaughter Lisa Manchester.

A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 2216 Rosa Rd., Schenectady, followed by a procession to Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 2501 Troy Schenectady Rd, Niskayuna.
