Rosalie Salley

COLONIE – Rosalie Salley, age 72, passed into her eternal rest at home in her sleep on Monday, January 14, 2013. Rosalie was born on March 27, 1940 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina to the late Mr. Ernest Chisolm and Ms. Viola Hines. At an early age, Rosalie's family relocated to Philadelphia, PA. There attended school and spent her early adult life working. It was also there that Rosalie met and was wed to the late Mr. Joseph Salley (deceased, 1964); four children were added to this union.

In 1966, Rosalie moved her family to Bronx, NY. There she met her second husband, Mr. David Jordan, Jr. Rosalie was employed in domestic services for many years in NYC, finally relocating to the Albany, NY area in 2001. Here she enjoyed her volunteer role with the Foster Grandmother Program of the Commission on Economic Opportunity for the Greater Capital Region. She was a faithful member of Victory Christian Church where she served in the Children's ministry.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband David Jordan, Jr.; three sons, Kevin Salley (San Bernardino, CA), Maurice Salley (Bronx, NY), and Gregory Salley (Chicago, IL); one daughter: Valerie Brown (Albany, NY); two brothers, Ernest Chisolm, Jr. (White Plains, NY); and Elijah Chisolm (New Rochelle, NY); eight grandchildren, Lorice Salley, Bouvirré Smith, Gregory Salley, Jr., Eric Peterson, André Brown, Isaiah Hill, Christian Hill, and Kristy Hill. Along with her six great-grandchildren, one aunt, several uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Rosalie was predeceased by her brother, Melvin Johnson and by her best friend, Alfreida Hayward, known to us as Aunt Freida. Rosalie was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed.

Friends and family will be received on Monday, January 21, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. The homegoing celebration (service) will begin at 1:00 p.m. As it was Rosalie's expressed wish, the family kindly requests that friends and family gathering for the service dress in bright and cheerful colors as this is truly a celebration of life.
