ALBANY – Rose A. Ritzler, 87, of Albany passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Philip and Anna Gatto Lanzarotta. Rose was a clerk with New York Telephone for many years. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and a longtime communicant of the former St. Teresa of Avila Church. Rose had been a volunteer at St. Peter's Hospital. She enjoyed family vacations and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Rose was predeceased by husband William Ritzler and her son Philip Ritzler. She is the beloved mother of Kathleen Nowak and Rose Marie (Thomas) Nowak and mother in law of Ann Ritzler. She is the sister of Austin (Marcia) Lanzarotta, Vincent Lanzarotta and the late Mary Moran, Joseph and Antoinette Lanzarotta. Rose is the cherished grandmother of Amy (David) Notarino, Angela, Matthew (Kristina), Daniel and Michael Nowak; Andrea, Elizabeth and Stephen Ritzler. She is the great grandmother of Emma and Jacob Notarino. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family expresses their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the wonderful caregivers who were kind and compassionate, especially Robaire Long and Colleen Correll.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 9:15 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie then to St. Pius X Church, Loudonville at 10:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4to 7 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rensselaer. Memorial contributions in Rose's name may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd. Albany, NY 12205.
