Rose C. Vigars

ROCHESTER-Rose C. Vigars, 92, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015 at Aaron Manor in Fairport, NY following a long illness. She was born in Watertown, NY, the daughter of the late Dominic and Maria (Cascarda) Williams. Rose and her late husband Ernest were involved in the family businesses Ralph's Tavern and Redwood Lanes in Colonie. Rose and Ernest continued in the family's tradition and opened their own business Vigars Soft Ice Cream for 16 years in East Greenbush, NY. Rose loved to cook, and garden, and loved to collect and try new recipes. She was most known for her warm smile and ready laugh. She is pre-deceased by her son Lee Olby. Rose is survived by her daughter Vicki (Michael) Doyle; daughter-in-law Carol Olby; her grandchildren Brian (Noelle) Olby, Kristen (Mike) Joyce, Aleisha Canik, Patrick and Bridget Doyle; and by her great grandchildren Tyler and Meghan Olby, Blake and Landon Joyce, Jackson and Savannah Canik. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at New Comer Funeral Home,343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service at the funeral home from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or The Genesee Land Trust.
