LOUDONVILLE- Rose Landers Downs of Loudonville, passed away on Sunday January 11, 2009 at Albany Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in West Albany and was the daughter of the late Frank and Maria Ferracane Scaringe. Rose was the wife of the late Joseph Downs.
Rose had worked for 25 years with New York State Department of Civil Service. She had worked as a waitress simultaneously and continued for many years until her recent illness. She was employed at the former Quality Inn in Albany and the Holiday Inn Turf in Colonie where she was recently honored as their Employee of the Year. Rose was a woman of tremendous faith with a special devotion to the rosary. She attended daily mass at her beloved parish of Blessed Sacrament as well as the Franciscan Chapel on Wolf Rd and St Francis de Sales Church. Rose's greatest joy was to be with her loving and cherished family.
She is the beloved mother of Joseph (Joanne) Landers, Frank (Donna) Landers and Jack Edward (Linda) Landers all of Colonie. Rose is the loving sister of Ann (Alund) Whipple of Menands, Antoinette (Babe) Pantuosco of Springfield, MA and the late
Mary Venuto, Susan Restagno, Joseph. James, Anthony (Funny) and Vito (Duke) Scaringe. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 8:15 at Newcomer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to Blessed Sacrament Church at 9:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
