RENSSELAER, NY – Rose M. (Bucci) Houting, 92, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2009. Born and raised in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Rose (Venosa) and Gaetano Bucci. She was one of nine children, her siblings included Mary, John, Joe, Ralph, Betty, Frank, Steve, Jimmy and Billy. Rose graduated from Schuyler High School. On December 8, 1937, she married George Houting. They were married for 62 years until his death. Rose worked as a clerk for John G. Myers store. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Emil J. Nagengast Florist. Rose was a creative person and an accomplished seamstress. Her hobbies included photography, gardening and video poker. She loved to travel. Her favorite places were Hawaii, Italy and Las Vegas. During a trip to Egypt, she rode a camel. Rose is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Cindy Houting , her daughter, Cynthia Campbell and her brother, Jim Bucci. Her grandchildren include Carla Philippbar, Christopher Campbell, Lauren Keena and Jennifer McLaughlin. Rose has four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Rose wanted to remember and thank her daughter-in-law, Cindy Houting, for taking her to doctors appointments, Mark Philippbar for cooking and Betty from Meals On Wheels.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Historic St. Mary's on Capitol Hill, Albany. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, Rensselaer County Dept. for the Aging, 1600 Seventh Ave., Troy, NY 12180-3798 in memory of Rose M. Houting.
