Albany- Rose Mary Helou, 78, died peacefully on Monday January 25, 2016 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn.
Rose was born on March 30, 1937 to the late Joseph and Althea Yanni in North Albany, NY. For 22 years Rose served as secretary to the Common Council under mayors; Corning, Whalen, and Jennings. Rose's passion in life was her family and friends.
Rose was predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years, James J. Helou Jr., and her sister, Theresa Logan.
She is survived by her loving children; Mary (Joseph Topini) A. Helou, James (Phoebe) J. Helou III, and Jacqueline (Matthew) Vilmany, her grandchildren; Brielle, Lexi, Jessica, and Christian, her siblings; Barry N. Dyer, Beverly A. Kean, Joan A. Dunn, Joseph B. Yanni, and James F. Yanni, her beloved neighbors on Terrace Ave., and her lifelong friends.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 4:00pm-7:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at All Saints Church, 16 Homestead St (behind CVS), Albany, NY 12203, on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 9:00am. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont.
