ALBANY - Rose Mason, 95, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Teresian House where she has resided for the past three years.
Rose was born on March 21, 1920 in Poughkeepsie, NY and was the oldest daughter of the late Charles and Susie (Yost) Dowen. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband of 44 years, Ernest V. Mason who passed away on March 22, 1997 and by her first husband, Francis Dunigan who passed away on October 27, 1947.
Rose enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and spending summers on Warners Lake and winters in Florida. She was known for her love of crocheting.
Rose is survived by her loving children, Francis (Laura) Dunigan of Homosassa, FL, Judith (Nicholas Kurtessis) Cocca of Voorheesville, and Susan (James Finnigan III) Macri of Albany; her cherished grandchildren, Francis Dunigan Jr., John (Jessica) Cocca and Thomas (Laura) Cocca; her adored great grandson, Francis Dunigan III; her sisters, Shirley Johnson and Constance Darmetko and several nieces and nephews. Rose was also predeceased by her siblings, Edward and Robert Wilber, Betty Camadine, Elizabeth Fendrick, Irene Brooks, Viola Wacksman, Pearl Parker, Rita Childers, Ruth Baldwin, and Joyce Dowen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Infant of Prague Chapel at the Teresian House, 200 Washington Avenue Extension, Albany. A calling hour will precede the Mass from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Teresian House. Interment, Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery in Glenmont, NY.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the Teresian House, especially to the Mt. Carmel staff for their loving care given to Rose.
