Rose Ann Massinello McGee, of Scotia New York, passed away at the Baptist Health Center on March 29, 2015. Born on November 8th, 1923, in Port Chester, New York she was the daughter of the late Peter and Angelina Massinello. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas (Tom) Francis Peter McGee, her three brothers Peter Massinello, Salvatore Massinello and Vincent Massinello and her sister Mary Massinello Smith.
Rose graduated from Port Chester High School in 1942 and worked as an attorney's assistant until she married in 1947. She and Tom moved to Hicksville, Long Island, New York in 1952 where they lived for more than thirty years and raised their family. Upon Tom's retirement in 1988 the couple moved to Stuart, Florida where Rose continued to live after Tom's death in 1991. In 1993 Rose moved back to New York (Rotterdam) to be closer to her children. Rose enjoyed living in her Holly Manor apartment and was able to maintain her independence due to the support and selflessness of her devoted son Michael. For the last four years she resided at Baptist Health Center in Scotia, NY where she was known for her warm smile, sense of humor and enthusiasm for activities.
Rose was a member of the Rotterdam Senior Citizens' Association, Jolly Doers Club and a communicant of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Her survivors include many friends and family members along with her children and grandsons: Patricia McGee Malone (daughter), Christopher Malone (son-in-law), Thomas McGee (son), Michael McGee (son) and grandsons Casey McGee and Chris McGee.
Friends and relatives are invited to call at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, on Tuesday evening March 31st from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 Wednesday morning, April 1st, at St. Gabriel Church, 3040 Hamburg St. Rotterdam, NY. Entombment at Memory Gardens, Colonie will follow.
