EAST GREENBUSH – Rose Archino (Archina) Motto died peacefully on October 31, 2005 at her residence, Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush.
Born in the South end of Albany on January 1, 1915, Rose moved to Italy at the age of 7 and remained there until she was 21. She returned to the United States on Thanksgiving Day 1937. Rose married her beloved husband "Patsy" Motto on September 30 1956 and they lived in Albany's South end until 1968, when they moved to Colonie. Patsy predeceased Rose in 1986.
Rose was employed by the Cap Company for 20 years, worked briefly at Sterling Winthrop and then completed her career at the Job Drape Company for 10 years before retiring. Since 1968 she had been a communicant of St. Francis deSales Church, West Albany/Loudonville until her changing of residency to East Greenbush, when she became a communicant of her favorite church St. John the Evangelist in Renssealer.
Rose was the daughter of the late Angelo Archina and the late Teresa Toteno of Siderno Marina, Reggio Calbria, Italy. Her brother Frank Archino and her sister Carmela Pasqualina both of Italy, predeceased Rose. She is survived by her brothers, Joseph Archino and Vincent Archina both of the Capital Region, two sisters, Catherine Alverge and Maria Belvedere of Siderno Marina, Reggio Calabria, Italy; Stepsister Ida and stepbrothers Antonio and Armando Archina also of Italy, cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews of Italy and the Capital Region; and her devoted friends, The Rev. R. Adam Forno and Santina Raus as well as an intimate community of neighbors and friends with whom she socialized and traveled Europe and the Middle East.
Gratitude is expressed to the staff of Evergreen Commons for their attentive, skillful compassionate caregiving.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday morning from 9 to 11 am at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, 50 Herrick Street Rensselaer. The Mass of Christian Death & Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 with interment following at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may bed made to the Padre Pio Shrine in the Garden of Good Wind, c/o the Church of St. John the Evangelist, 50 Herrick Street, Rensselaer, NY 12144.
