COHOES - Rose N. Simonik, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn, with her daughter, Linda by her side.
Rose was born on June 9, 1937 in Troy and was the daughter of the late Lee and Rose (Polaro) Irvine. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. She was an office supervisor for the Public Adjustment Bureau in Troy for several years before retiring, prior to that she worked for Barclay's Home Products in Cohoes as an office supervisor.
Rose enjoyed playing games on her tablet, playing bingo and other activities at Van Rensselaer Manor, where she was a past President of the Residential Council. She really enjoyed her dessert. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Rose is survived by her loving daughters, Linda M. (the late John) Fisk and Lori (the late Roger) Bailie; her cherished grandchildren, Adam Fisk, Nicholas Fisk, Brendon Bailie, Eric (Meg Dorsey) Bailie, and Kate (Alex Lovell) Bailie; her siblings, James (Rita) Irvine, Aleta Frederick, and Ralph (Mary Anne) Irvine; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward and Jackie Simonik, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph Simonik and her brothers, Thomas Walsh and Lee "Sonny" Irvine.
A special thank you to her niece, Debra (Bill Gaelick) Atwell, who was continuously by her side. Also with gratitude to the staff at St. Peter's Hospice Inn and the staff at Van Rensselaer Manor for the love and care they gave to Rose.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY. Calling hours will precede the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Watervliet.
