Green Island -
Rosemary (Rose) Bielawa (Falasco), 93, passed away on the morning of March 15, 2024, surrounded by her family.
She was loved and cared for by her family as she prepared for and made the journey to the next world. There are no words to express the love she had for her family. During her last days, she spoke of the love that she felt from her Mom, Mary "Ma" and Dad, Anthony "Pa". She passed that love onto her children; Anne Marie, Stanley, Lori and Mary Theresa, and onto her grandchildren; Tim, Katie, Connor Alyssa, Alex, Dana and also her great grandbabies; Izzy, Kane, Weston, Dreka and Drake. She is survived by her sisters; Millie, Phyllis, Margaret and Dorothy. She is joined with her brothers and sister, Pete, Jim Carm, Joe and Phil. She is now at rest with Bill, her companion of 47 years.
Aside from her family, Rose fully enjoyed going to bingo at Bingo Palace and Celtic Hall with her sister Dorothy, friends Mary and Dom, and occasionally, her daughter Lori and granddaughters Alyssa, Dana and Katie, especially when it was the big jackpot nights. A special thank you to the bingo organization and to O 63.
Sunday dinners and sitting at her table with family for holidays and birthdays were the best things that could happen during her life. Even as she fought through the last of her time on this earth, she would fully perk up when her great grandbabies, Weston, Izzy and Kane would visit with hugs, when Dreka played doctor to her great Nana, not to leave out picking just the right cookies from the pack for Drake. When asked, these were some of the first words that come to mid as her family thought of Rose: inspiring, best friend, strong, fighter, love, warm, helpful, food, a lot (she was that to all of us and many more), best sister, matriarch.
One of Rose's passions was advocating and caring for people. She always stressed concern for those who do not have people to care for them. She was a home health aide for many years. During these years, she not only provided care to people, she took her clients out to eat, brought them to her home for family dinners, played cards with them and was truly a friend to her clients.
It was Rose's strong request that no service will take place. While she loved flowers, she always stated that we should "save your money." If you wish to honor Rose, the family is asking that donations be made to The Community Hospice (https://www.communityhospice.org/donate/) or to Eddy Senior Care - The PACE Program (385 Watervliet Shaker Rd. Latham, NY 12110). Rose and her family are truly grateful for the care given by Erny who provided an orientation to her and her family about hospice, and to Jake, Rose's primary hospice nurse.
Rose and her family are also very thankful for Lindsay who provided care through The PACE Program, as well as Nicole, Judy and Karyn. Rose and her family are also very appreciative to Amirha, one of Rosemary's aides, and thankful to the ED and 6-Tower staff at Samaritan Hospital, not to mention the EMTs who arrived at the house to provide care to Rose. A celebration of Rose's life will be held in the spring/summer at a location to be determined. It takes a tribe. Til we meet again, Mom.
