Rosemary L. Florence

Schenectady- Rosemary 'Linda' Florence, 63, of Schenectady, passed away March 25, 2013 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness.
Linda was born in Rochester NH, the daughter of the late Roland J. Sr. and Freda Gosselin. She graduated from Linton High School and attended college at Hudson Valley where she obtained her degree in 1970. From there, Linda moved on to start her career as a manager at Nynex and retired from what is now Verizon in 2000 with over 30 years of service.
Linda was known for her sharp wit and strong personality. She loved animals, especially all of her dogs that she had throughout her life. She was an avid gambler and was known for spending most of her time doing what she loved, playing bingo. But, what she loved most of all, was spending time with her great nephew Drake, whom she was also lucky to share her birthday with. Linda was always ready to lend a helping hand to both friends and family. She will be deeply missed by all of those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her 2 brothers, Roland J. and Richard Gosselin both of Schenectady.
Survivors include her loving husband of 30 years, Chester E. Florence III of Schenectady; sisters, Rachel (Harold) DuPont of Scotia and Ramona Gosselin of Schenectady; Brother-in-law, Charles (Earlene) Florence of Fonda; Sister-in-laws Nancy (Kevin) Hanley of Johnstown, and Peggy Florence of Schenectady; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 11am-12pm at the New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie. Interment will immediately follow the service at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
Memorial contributions can be donated to the Pediatric Cancer Unit at Albany Medical Center or The Ronald McDonald House.
