Rosemary Ronayne-Chace

July 25, 1943 — February 14, 2021

Cohoes -

Rosemary Ronayne-Chace, 77, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 with her loving family by her side. Rosemary contracted COVID in October 2020, which she was recovering from. However, contracting COVID again in January proved too much. Rosemary grew up in the Detroit area and was the daughter of the late Hugh Patrick and Agnes Ronayne. She was predeceased by her youngest sister, Jeanine Plymale, in September. Rosemary was married to the late Arthur B. Chace, Jr. and raised her 3 children while living in Bay City, Michigan.

Rosemary loved to devote her time to her family and helping other people. She was involved for many years in St. Stanislaus school and served as president of the Mother's club there. She volunteered for her childrens' extracurricular activities and Scout troops. She was exceptionally skilled at sewing, and sewed her childrens' clothes and costumes, in addition to sewing for the Bay City Players during some of their performances. In later years, she turned her attention to crocheting-- her specialties were winter hats, mittens, and afghans of many designs and sizes. She loved gardening and had a full backyard vegetable garden in addition to tending her roses and peonies. She cooked for her family--canning and preserving food when she could, and baking numerous pies, cookies, and other special treats. Rosemary worked for many years with the Bay County Women's Shelter, volunteering at first, and later joining the staff full-time.

Rosemary loved listening to music of all genres and taught that appreciation to her children, whether it was dancing to Elvis, the "Grease" soundtrack, the Beatles, or Tony Orlando and Dawn.

She had interests in crafts of all kinds, especially if something could be made from items that most people would throw away. She loved challenging herself with crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and exploring new interests such as drawing, painting, and origami. These interests continued into her 60's and 70's when she joined several senior centers and assisted with teaching some of her skills to others.

Rosemary is survived by her children, Kristina McShane, Michelle (Larry) Appleby, and David (Joy) Jadajsonos; her son-in-law, Bruce McShane; her grandchildren, Shannon McShane, Hannah Feinman and Justin Chace; and her great-grandson, Elton Edward Lawrence Hull. Rosemary is also survived by her siblings: Margaret Ledford, Patricia Greer, Michael Ronayne, & Charles "Chuck" Ronayne; and many loving nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Because of COVID precautions in our nation, a full service is unable to be held at this time and the family plans a memorial service in the future, hopefully this summer of 2021.

Donations may be made in Rosemary's memory to the Bay County(Michigan) Women's Shelter or to any charity of your choice.
