Roy Hershey, 70, passed away Monday, July 12, 2010. Roy was raised in Hartville, Ohio, a son of the late William and Jane Hershey. He graduated from Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, Pa., served his country in the U.S. Army during the early 60s in Germany, and graduated from Union College. Upon graduation, Roy worked at Key Bank for several years after which, he was self-employed. Roy was a member of the Edison Club. He enjoyed skiing, photography, and fly fishing. He also enjoyed racing cars at Watkins Glen and Lime Rock. Roy had been a long time supporter of the arts and education. He was very involved with the Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region and had served on that board for 11 years. He had been a long time member of the First Reformed Church of Schenectady, where he served on the consistory. Roy is survived by his wife, Nancy Hershey; three daughters, Krista (Richard) Wells, Lisa (Roberto) Range and Laura Hershey; four grandchildren, Alexa, Elijah, Lucas and Sierra; brother, W. Thomas (Beth) Hershey; and mother-in-law, Shirley Kelly. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at First Reformed Church, 8 North Church St., Schenectady, N.Y.
