June 27, 1944 — April 30, 2014
SMITH, ROYAL I., 69, passed away unexpectedly but with peace and dignity and entered God's kingdom on April 30, 2014.
Loving son of the late George I. and Audrey "Stewart" Smith of Cobleskill, NY and more recently of Daytona Beach, FL.
Also survived by Lydia Fernandez of Rensselaer, NY, loving daughter Agena Fernandez of Rensselaer, NY, daughter Robin Smith of Gloversville, NY. Grandfather of LeGena and Jayson and great grandfather of ZaKai. Brother of Diane "Smith" Jackson of Liberty, NY and also Susan "Smith" Dodig of Daytona Beach, FL. Uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Long time loving and caring companion/partner to Mary M. Smith of East Greenbush, NY. Doggie-Dad to Travis and Bella, Coco and Chief.
Royal had a passion for his many cars especially his 944 Porsche.
He enjoyed his vacations to Puerto Rico and Lake Placid and was a fan of the NY Yankees and especially admired Derek Jeter.
Royal retired from the NYS Office of Mental Health where he worked as a Mail & Supply Clerk for 15 years. Previous to that he was employed by several businesses located in Long Island, NY most notably Grumman Aeronautics.
The family would like to acknowledge the caring medical support Royal received by the many doctors and nurses at Albany Medical Center Hospital, especially the BWest 3rd Floor unit and also the BWest ICU Unit and also his Ortho surgeon, Dr. Jared Roberts.
There will be no calling hours and a service will be held at the convenience of the family.
