SCHENECTADY-Rudolph (Rudy) P. Nugent was born in Kingston, Jamaica BWI, August 20, 1968. He is survived by his wife Shelley and his daughters Natasha and Nadia. He is predeceased by his father Rudolph Sr. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves to grieve his mother Hyacinth Waters and two brothers Michael and Christopher; his parents-in-law George and Sylvia Delamar; Brother-in-law Franklin Washington Jr., Sister-in-law Sheila Etienne(Duane), Sister-in-law Sabrina Bowie(Calvert), Sister-in-law Sophia Delamar, Sister-in-law Leatrice Davis, and Sister-in-law Denise Smalls. Also grieving his death are a host of relatives, friends, and co-workers
Rudy emigrated with his grandmother as a child and became a naturalized U. S. citizen. He attended public school in NYC. He received a full scholarship to the City College of New York Medical School and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Science. After school he moved to Albany, New York to continue his studies at Albany Medical Center. God had other plans for his life. He worked a variety of jobs which included being a manager at Macy's. It was at Macy's where he met his bride to be, Shelley and they soon became inseparable. Shortly thereafter he began to work as a Budget Examiner at the NYS Budget Division. In 2004 he transferred to NYS Office for Mental Health as Project Manager of the Finger Print Initiative. Most recently he worked for the NYS Office of Information Technology Services.
Rudy joined the Friendship Baptist Church in Schenectady, NY, in 2009. As a member of Friendship Baptist Church he served in many capacities, member of the Deacon Board, Assistant Superintendent of the Sunday School, Superintendent, Youth Advisor and a member of Echoes Male Chorus. Rudy departed this earthly life on Monday, April 21, 2014. The family will honor his wishes to be cremated. There will be a wake Friday, April 25th at noon, followed by home going services at 1:00 PM. Both will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, 407 Union St., Schenectady, NY, The Church will host a reception following the service at Friendship House, 955 State St., Schenectady, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Friendship Baptist Church Sunday School.
