COLONIE – Rufus J. (Monty) Gould, 91, of Colonie, passed away on Thursday January 19, 2012
at Van Rensselaer Manor.
He was born in Chittendon, VT and was the son of the late Julian and Emma Gould. Rufus was a resident of West Albany for most of his life. He was a WWII Army veteran having served in the 7th Armored Division. Rufus was a conductor with New York Central Railroad for 42 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Wadsworth #417 Masonic Lodge and had been an avid skier.
Rufus is the husband of the late Mary Galluzzo Gould. He is the father of Debra Johnson and the late Jay Gould. He is the grandfather of Nicholas Johnson and Christine (Vincent) Santandrea. He is the brother of the late Ralph Gould, Florence Lawrence, Wilfred Gould, Catherine Coombs, Theodore Gould, Pauline Meier, Ruth Riccardo, and Edward Gould. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 11:00 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256 or got@woundedwarriorproject.org
