COLONIE, NY – Russell L. Tucker, Sr., 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on January 4, 2010 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. He was born in Albany and educated in the Albany City Schools. Russell was the son of the late Naomi McIntosh and Leon Tucker. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving his country during World War II. Russell was employed with BASF Chemical Corporation in Rensselaer for 42 years until his retirement. He is the beloved husband of Anna R. Tucker. Russell is the father of Gertrude McCoy of Connecticut and Russell L. Tucker, Jr. of Albany. He is the step-father of Claude (Sharon) Anderson, Jr. of Schenectady, Carolyn Anderson of Albany and the late Emma Anderson. Russell is the brother of Joyce (Leslie) McIntosh and Robert Tucker, both of Albany, and the late Bernice Jenkins, Edward, Richard and David Tucker. He is the cherished grandfather of Dishonna, Jamal and Jarit McCoy of Connecticut and step-grandfather of Odessa Anderson of Schenectady whom he fondly referred to as "My Girl." Also surviving is a host of other relatives and friends. A special thanks to Dr.'s Hoenzsch, Finn, Kim, Hart and Freeman and a special warm thanks to the hospice staff at St. Peter's Hospital.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Going Home Celebration on Monday, January 11th at 12:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
