Ruth Ann Eckstine

TROY, NY – Ruth Ann Eckstine, 80, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital, under the care of Hospice. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Arthur G. and Anna Mae Cahill Eckstine and sister of the late Marion Elizabeth Eckstine Beckett. Ruth resided in Watervliet for most of her life. She graduated from Watervliet Schools and Russell Sage College where she received a B.A. in education. She retired from the New York State Dept. of Agriculture and Markets in 1990 after 43 years of service. Ruth was an avid bowler, golfer and artist and was also a girlscout leader in Watervliet for many years. She is survived by her beloved niece, Gail Ruth Beckett of Troy. Also surviving are many friends in Watervliet and at Diamond Ridge Retirement Community.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, West Sand Lake. A Memorial Service will be held at Diamond Ridge Gracious Retirement Community on Thursday at 3:00 p.m., all are welcome.
